The technical bit
Echo for Email verifies that each email it receives is from a valid IP Address. To simplify setting up new users, Echo for Email uses Domain Name Service (DNS) records to automatically add or verify trusted IP Addresses.
The list of trusted IP Addresses is available to view and edit in the Advanced section of Echo for Email. You may manually add IP Addresses to the trusted list should the DNS strategies described below not cover your particular needs or setup.
Adding a new user to Echo for Email
When adding a new user to 'Echo for Email', IP addresses will be automatically added to the trusted list in two stages:
- Stage 1 - When a new user is added, any DNS MX (Mail eXchange) records for the domain name of the user's email address are added to the list of valid IP Addresses.
- Stage 2 - Once the invitation to use 'Echo for Email' has been accepted, the IP Address of the first email to be sent as an SMS from a user will be trusted and added to the list of valid IP Addresses.
If further emails come from an IP Address not already in the list, Echo for Email checks for any DNS SPF (sender policy framework) records to ensure the email has been sent from a valid source. If the SPF check fails, then the emails will be blocked.

The solution was integrated seamlessly and we haven't had any problems since launch over a year ago. Thank you Esendex!
