
Auto Windscreens and Esendex have developed a system that allows Fitting Centre Managers to automatically text messages to their automotive glazing technicians from their IT Systems with their allocated jobs. The process of job allocation is automated, and they’ve saved thousands in call costs.
Autowindscreens are the UK's leading fleet automotive glazing company. They have partnerships with most insurance providers, and over 98 fitting centres in the UK and a fleet of over 600 mobile service units. They can handle over 1.2 million calls for glass incidents each year.
Auto Windscreens carries out over 750,000 jobs a year and has more than 600 mobile units working out of nearly 100 centres offering a 24 hour service. Auto Windscreens were finding that communicating with those geographically dispersed teams created a logistical headache for managers.
They saw the opportunity to use SMS to allocate jobs and approached Esendex. Together, Auto Windscreens and Esendex developed a system that allows Fitting Centre Managers to automatically text messages to their automotive glazing technician from their IT Systems with their allocated jobs. SMS was integrated with Auto Windscreens’ systems using the Esendex SMS API.
The technicians then text back a simple code when they’ve arrived at a vehicle, again when they’ve repaired or replaced the glass and again once more when they are ready to head off to their next job. The responses automatically update the status of the jobs logged into the control centre computers so managers can quickly and easily monitor progress.
